UPCOMING UMN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL INITIATIVE WEBINAR

Climate Change: Local to Global Challenges and Strategies

Climate change is reshaping ecosystems around the world, with 2019 seeing record levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases at the end of the warmest decade on record. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 calls for global, national and local efforts to strengthen responses to the impacts of climate change. Strategies including green jobs, inclusive and sustainable growth and education hold promise.

In this sixth webinar of a series on issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals, a panel of community-engaged scholars and practitioners representing a range of perspectives will offer examples and insights on where progress is being made and where more work is needed. The panel discussion will connect local Minnesota community efforts and the broader, global landscape to consider the interconnectedness of climate action across all levels.

Panelists:

  • Jessica Hellmann, Director, Institute on the Environment, University of Minnesota

  • Jamez Staples, Founder, Renewable Energy Partners (REP)
